So, a year or two ago, I heard a song by the Goo Goo Dolls called "Better Days." It really got me thinking about life in general, and also about what I want my impact in this world to be. And, it's been kind of a motto for my life ever since then, all-be-it a slighty idealistic one.
I even thought that this song was inspirational enough to paint it on a canvas hanging on my dorm room this year with the lines "And you asked me what I want this year, and I try to make this kind and clear...just a chance that maybe we'll find better days."
In this blog, I'm going to be sharing some of my thoughts about how I think I can help make better days in the different aspects of my life and the world, including my life at Pepperdine. I don't want this to be fuel for negativity or apathy, instead I would like it to be a forum for discussing ways to solve the problems I will be addressing. I hope you can take something from this, and I'd love to hear your feedback and commentary. With that said, here's to better days!
"Better Days" by The Goo Goo Dolls
And you asked me what I want this year
and I try to make this kind and clear
just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
'cause I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
and designer love and empty things
just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
So take these words and sing out loud
'cause everyone is forgiven now
'cause tonight's the night the world begins again
I need some place simple where we could live
and something only you can give
and that's faith and trust and peace while we're alive
and the one poor child who saved this world
and there's ten million more who probably could
if we all just stopped and said a prayer for them
So take these words and sing out loud
'cause everyone is forgiven now
'cause tonight's the night the world begins again
I wish everyone was loved tonight
and somehow stop this endless fight
just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
So take these words and sing out loud
'cause everyone is forgiven now
'cause tonight's the night the world begins again
'cause tonight's the night the world begins again
